In November 2015, Wang and her friend embarked on a trip to Oregon in search of a mythic shipwreck. Instead, they came upon hundreds of massive, surreal-looking tree trunks scattered across a beach, monumental forms that seemed immovable, almost eternal. Intending to return with better equipment, neither took a photograph at the time. But when they came back the next morning, the beach was bare. Overnight, the trunks had vanished beneath a fresh layer of sand. What had seemed anchored beyond reach proved, in the end, strangely elusive. You Are Beautiful You Should Be Seen is narrated from this fleeting encounter.
